4 medium-sized apples [I used pink lady]
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cardamom
3/4 teaspoon ground all spice
3/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
Prep time: 20 minutes
Cook time: 5 hours
Total time: 5 hours & 20 minutes
Servings: roughly 16oz [I started with a small batch to test out the recipe first but this is also plenty!]
Peel & slice apples.
Mix together apple slices, brown sugar, vanilla extract, salt, & spices.
Cook apples on high in a slow cooker for 4 hours, stirring occasionally.
For the fifth hour, turn heat down to low & cook.
Once apples have caramelized & softened, transfer to a bowl & let cool.
Once apples are cool, pulse in a food processor until desired consistency.
Refrigerate & enjoy for up to three weeks.
