Welcome to DC Eatings!
This blog you’re reading is the newest extension to @dceatings, the “foodstagram” that I currently operate. Over the past couple of months, I’ve had a powerful craving to share so much more about my love, obsession, and admiration for food. So, here I am! Yet another millennial with a food Instagram AND a blog. What a cliche, right?
First off, I’d like to thank everyone who has taken the time to take a look at this blog, even if you didn’t make it past the “About” page. I’d also like to thank everyone who has continuously encouraged me to follow my passions and run with them into the unknown, a.k.a. post-graduation life.
My intention with this blog is to share my culinary adventures [and misadventures], my inspirations, and favorite recipes with you. I’ll also let you in on some of the best sip spots and restaurants in the D.C. area. Consider this the go-to site to stay in the know about the next best bite, the prettiest latte art, and the newest “foodie” events around the DMV area.
DC Eatings doesn’t cater to a specific audience, nor does it have a “theme” per say. However, this blog does follow my dietary habits which includes mostly veggies, eggs, seafood, anything and everything chocolate, and lots of coffee. While I am guilty of eating cheese burgers on the very rare occasion, I do not voluntarily buy red meat when cooking for myself. Because I cook more than I eat out, red meat is therefore pretty much non-existent in my diet. The same applies for chicken.
I also eat what I want and what makes me feel good. That includes healthy, fresh, and locally-sourced produce. Chocolate also makes me feel good, especially when I’m having a bad day, so I eat a lot of that too. With my Instagram and now this blog, I hope to encourage people to slow down and truly enjoy and admire the food that they eat; making dining more of an experience that stimulates all senses than just a necessity. I also hope to inspire people to eat healthy and consciously, shop and eat locally, all the while still eating what they want and indulging in their guilty pleasures. What would life be without those, anyways?
I’ll finish by saying this - welcome to DC Eatings. I’m very excited to be sharing this newest journey with you, one bite at a time!
